Why earn a master of arts in professional counseling from TXST?

Texas State University offers a master of arts in professional counseling degree with concentrations available in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC); Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling (MCFC); and School Counseling (SC). Nationally accredited, the professional counseling program fosters professional competencies via dynamic and multimodal learning environments in which diversity, critical thinking, self-in-context, scholarship, praxis, and the creation and integration of knowledge are celebrated.

Because career preparedness is a critical component of the program, students have the opportunity to participate in one of the most extensive clinical sequences of any counseling program in the nation, culminating with a two-semester external internship. These courses allow for proper professional development of theory and clinical skills with supervision by highly qualified faculty and mentors.

Each concentration meets the academic requirements for licensure and certification in the state of Texas.
