Latinos and the Future of America

Dr. Marta Tienda is the Maurice P. During ’22 Professor of Demographic Studies and Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, and Director of the Latina/o Studies minor at Princeton University and former director of the Office of Population Research. Dr. Tienda received a B.A. from Michigan State University (Spanish, 1972) and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin (1976). She has received honorary doctorates from Bank Street College, Ohio State University and Lehman College. Professor Tienda’s expertise focuses on race and ethnic inequality, international migration, health, and higher education.  Dr. Tienda is the author of Multiple Origins, Uncertain Destinies (2006), and Hispanics and the Future of America (2006).
