Celebrating Stevie Ray Vaughan's 70th Birthday

with Tracy Anne Hart

In one 35mm frame, two Texas music icons backstage at Fitzgerald's in Houston on July 18, 1984. Joe Ely was headlining at the Heights landmark that night, and Stevie Ray Vaughan had been invited to come by after his gig at the Music Hall downtown. And by some miraculous stroke of luck, I was there to capture the moment with my Leica. This is one of the eleven prints that the Wittliff Collections acquired from me for “Stevie Ray Vaughan at Seventy,” a new exhibit. Vaughan would have been 70 on October 3, 2024.
