Research:
Bone biology, bone histology, histotaphonomy, forensic anthropology, humanitarian anthropology, bioarchaeology
I received my PhD from Texas State in 2023. I am a biological anthropologist interested in bone biology and I explore microscopic variation in human bone as it applies to both forensic and archaeological contexts. My current research focuses on the use of bone histology to estimate the age-at-death of human skeletal remains from both forensic and archaeological contexts, the study of microstructural differences between human and nonhuman bone, and histotaphonomic experimentation. I am also involved in humanitarian forensic anthropology where I explore the impact of policy and infrastructure on the identification of migrants who die crossing borders in both the US and Greece. As the Coordinator for the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State (FACTS), I am also dedicated to the instruction of law enforcement and anthropology enthusiasts through the many varied workshops offered by FACTS.
