TXST is committed to providing equal access to individuals with disabilities.
Graduates with Disabilities
Graduates with disabilities are asked to identify their need in the graduation application and contact the Office of Disability Services at least two weeks prior to commencement.
Arrival and Re-entry
It is recommended that graduates and guests with limited mobility plan to arrive 1–1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time.
At the end of the ceremony, graduates and guests will exit the University Events Center. Re-entry will only be allowed for those with limited mobility through entrances 2 and 3.
Parking
Limited Mobility Parking
Limited mobility parking (Lot C) near Entrance 1 is available to graduates and guests who have limited mobility and have a disabled license plate, a disabled placard, or can show a disability-related need.
Golf Carts
Golf carts are available in Lot C to take individuals from their vehicle to entrance 1 of the University Events Center.
Traffic
For the safety and convenience of our guests, the University Police Department (UPD) coordinates and supervises parking and traffic flow.
Shuttle Services
Please allow 15 minutes for the shuttle to make its designated route when planning your arrival.
- Shuttles will be available to transport graduates and guests from Lots A and B and drop off in front of the University Events Center
- Shuttles will only pick up and drop off at designated stops
- Buses will available beginning 1.5 hours prior to the start of the ceremony
- Last bus leaves 1.5 hours after the end of the ceremony
- All shuttle buses are 100% ADA accessible
Seating
Please identify that you require accessible seating to staff at the entrance.
Each guest with a disability will be allowed to have one accompanying person sit with them in the accessible seating area.
Guests with disabilities who wish to sit in another section closest to their graduate may do so, however, seating cannot be guaranteed in any specific section.

Access for People Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Captioning and Interpreting
Real-time captioning and ASL interpreting services are provided for all commencement ceremonies. Captions and interpretation are also accessible via livestream on the commencement website.
Assistive Listening Devices
We can provide individuals with an assistive listening device (ALD) upon request. Should a person need an ALD, please request the device from staff in the concourse near seating section 106 upon arriving.
