Dr. Roger L. Booker, Jr. is an Assistant Faculty of Instruction at Texas State University. His interest is in social and cultural education, emphasizing black male educational achievement and attainment from a historical perspective. His dissertation focuses on  military and civilian black male education in the Southwest from 1960 to 2000. Before acquiring his PhD., he was a soldier for 21 years, a high school teacher, and a coach in Texas. He has worked in Academic Athletic Departments as a tutor, academic mentor, and academic coach at The University of Texas, Texas State University, and The University of Kansas.  Dr. Booker is also a NCAA women’s basketball and softball official.
