Miranda Sachs is a historian of Modern European with a particular emphasis on French history and the history of childhood. She teaches courses on European history and youth culture.

Her research traces the formation of the categories of childhood and youth in nineteenth- and twentieth-century France. Her forthcoming book with Oxford University Press entitled Childhood in Third Republic Paris examines the moment in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries when childhood became a distinct stage of life. The book draws on a range of sources, from government labor reports to postcards, to examine how people across French society conceived of childhood in this period. She is beginning a new book project on youth culture, dating, and immigration in France after World War II.

Her recent publications have appeared in French Historical Studies and The Journal of the History of Childhood and Youth. She has also contributed to the edited volume France in the Era of Global War and to The Washington Post.

Dr. Sachs received her Ph.D. from Yale University in 2017. Prior to coming to Texas State, she taught at William & Mary and Denison University.
