New Student Information
Welcome! We're glad you decided to join the Honors College at Texas State University! As you prepare for the upcoming school year, we have curated a few essential resources that will help you connect with Honors and identify resources to launch your academic career.
Follow each of the steps outlined below. Be aware that you may, at various points in this process, need your TXST student ID as well as access to your Bobcat email and calendar.
Step 1: Prepare for New Student Orientation
We highly recommend all incoming Honors College students sign up for an Honors Advising session. These virtual sessions will offer additional resources and support, and are your best chance for getting your favorite classes in the fall. These offerings are limited to accepted Honors students.
Step 2: Browse the Honors Course Catalog
Prior to NSO, you will meet with a First-Year or academic advisor in the college, school, or department of your intended major—depending on how many college credits you're bringing to TXST. Either way, you should get to know your options in Honors before you attend.
Step 3: Book an Advising Meeting in Honors
If you have questions or concerns about registration, we encourage you to meet with an Honors advisor. Click the button below for a 20-minute "Initial Advising" appointment with one of our staff or faculty. Note: Appointments are on Microsoft Teams, and you must already have a TXST email to book!
Step 4: Find Housing
The on-campus Honors College community centers around Cibolo Honors House —a Living-Learning Community, with a faculty member in residence, that is based in Cibolo Hall. But you don't have to live in Cibolo; there are many options for campus living. Just make sure to register for Honors US1100!
Step 5: Connect With Honors
One of the best ways to stay informed about activities, events, and announcements in the Honors College is to follow us on social media.
