Program Director
Note from the Sustainability Studies Graduate Director
Our innovative interdisciplinary MA/MS in Sustainability Studies program began here in fall 2016. We have a vibrant and passionate group of faculty and students who hope to encourage new ways to “green” the world. Because the program is interdisciplinary, we attract and welcome students who have a wide range of interests and career goals. Students hope to work in sustainability-related non-profit organizations, businesses (e.g., developing solar panels, composting, and recycling), state and local agencies, and other “green” careers.
Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research on sustainability. Recent faculty publications have examined pollution by the military, food ethics, consumerism, urban farming, globalization and the environment, sustainability in cities and rural areas, nanotechnology, technology and sustainability, and environmental laws and policies. Our award-winning faculty teach courses in several departments including but not limited to Agriculture, Biology, Business, Geography, Merchandising and Consumer Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology.
Deadlines for applications are April 15 for summer applications, July 15 for fall applications, and October 15 for spring applications. If you are applying for FALL, it is in your best interest to apply as soon as possible after January 1 in order to be eligible for various forms of financial aid, and Graduate Scholarships (due February 1 of each year).
