Meeting with a Fellowship Advisor
As you develop your application, the Honors Fellowship advisor will be happy to read and advise you about your fellowship essays and the other materials you submit with your application.
The Fellowship advisor is available as your liaison with the fellowship office and as a sounding board for your ideas as you develop your application. To schedule an appointment, call the Honors College at 512‐245‐5018 or email
ugresearch@txstate.edu.
Schedule an initial appointment with the advisor as soon as you start considering an application for any of the competitive fellowship or scholarship programs. During the initial phase, you will research the fellowship, applicable institutions where you might study; you can also contact faculty at these institutions as you develop your proposal. Early on, you should prepare a list of potential recommenders for review with the Advisor.
The Honors advisor will coordinate recommendations from Texas State faculty; if the faculty members are willing to work together, their recommendations can be reviewed to make sure that each one emphasizes appropriate and different aspects of your performance and potential, rather than being redundant. Your application and recommendations must be coordinated through the Honors advisor if a university endorsement is required.
Please e‐mail a clean copy of your draft essay (.doc, .docx, or .pdf formats) and other materials you want reviewed a few days before your appointment. Format your essays in 12‐point type; use 1‐inch margins (top, bottom, and sides) with 1.5 or double spacing.
Use the following file format to identify your documents:

Include your name, the name of the fellowship, word count, date and page number in the header of your document:
