H-E-B Tournament Of Champions Supports Scholarships For Math Camp
The H-E-B Tournament Of Champions has announced a $16,000 donation to Mathworks at Texas State University. This will support student scholarships for the upcoming Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC) program. This 35-year old program engages young students in doing in-depth mathematics while having fun. The program’s curriculum is filled with hands-on activities and guided discovery. Students develop a strong mathematical foundation and are more prepared for the new school year.
For years, H-E-B’s Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust has contributed to worthy causes throughout Texas. H-E-B’s Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust is a special fund that receives its money from an annual golf tournament sponsored by H-E-B’s vendor community. This golf tournament provides the funds for charitable projects and programs that have a positive impact on our communities within the areas of youth, children, education, and health.
Access to high quality summer academic programs is crucial for young students. Summer learning loss is strongly correlated with the achievement gap among students of different socioeconomic backgrounds. This support from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions directly addresses this issue by providing mathematical learning opportunities to students who would not otherwise have access to high quality summer programs. Additional support for the 2024 JSMC comes from Texas State University, San Marcos CISD, Clif Bars, KLE Foundation, Butler Foundation, RGK Foundation, Herb Carter Foundation, and the Kodosky Foundation.
