Celebrating the Life of Dr. Alex White

It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that Dr. Alexander White, Associate Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Professor of Statistics at Texas State University, passed away on January 30, 2025. Dr. White was a dedicated educator, mentor, and collaborator, and a prominent member of the Texas State University community whose leadership in the department and on the Faculty Senate will be greatly missed.

Alex is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dr. Alejandra Sorto, and two daughters, Isabel and Sofia. The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support that has come from the university community in recent weeks.

A Celebration of Life for Dr. Alexander White will be held on Sunday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall located at 430 Moon Street in San Marcos. A reception will follow, during which Alejandra looks forward to visiting and sharing stories with Alex's friends and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests donations be made to the Alexander White Statistics Fellowship.
