TEXAS MATHWORKS–Mayor Susan Narvaiz recognizes the importance of mathematics education by proclaiming April as Mathematics Awareness Month. Texas State University Math Professors Max Warshauer and John Edgell accept the proclamation on behalf of the outstanding Texas Mathworks program, a center for innovation in math education in collaboration between the university and San Marcos CISD. A San Marcos team sponsored by the program has represented the United States at the Primary Math World Contest in Hong Kong and has won the Po Leung Kuk trophy as the top non-Asian team four of the last five years. Assisting in the presentation are Council Members Betsy Robertson and Gaylord Bose.
