Mathworks HSMC student wins "Best of Fair" at Austin Science Festival

Austin, TX - February 26, 2010

Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC) student Max Wimberley was awarded “Best of Fair” at the Austin Energy Regional Science Festival yesterday.  He advances to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) that will be held in San Jose, CA this coming May.
 
Max (Austin, TX), worked on his project with Millie Shi (Sugar Land, TX) during their time at the 2009 HSMC. Their project, "Creating and Deducing Structure using Domination Numbers in Permutation Graphs," was mentored by Dr. Weizhen Gu of the Texas State University math department.
 
The HSMC is a six-week residential program for talented high school students who show a passion for mathematics and learning. Held on the campus of Texas State University, the camp has been running for 20 years, drawing students from across Texas and the world.
