Preparing for your Honors Camp Application
The Mathworks Honors Summer Math Camp acceptance is heavily based on the application that we receive from each applicant. For your application to be reviewed for acceptance by the committee it must be fully completed. To be classified as complete it must have the following components:
- Essay-written by the applicant
- Transcript from your school- this does not have to be an official transcript
- Teacher Recommendation- Preferably from your math teacher/coach
Once all of these are complete and submitted to Mathworks your application will be sent to the committee by rounds. For further information on the rounds please click here.
Before you enter the application page please have your essay and transcript ready to upload. Also, please notify your teacher/coach of your preferred deadline for their teacher recommendation to be sent to us. Click here for the teacher recommendation form.
Essay - Be sure to include your full name at the top of your essay
First-year Student Essay Topics
Please upload an application essay below. Please submit a one-page essay that addresses the following prompts:
- How did you learn about our program?
- Describe your mathematics background and what you have enjoyed exploring?
- What other activities are you engaged in doing?
- What excites you about coming to this program?
Second- and Third-year Student Essay Topics
Deadline is Feb 15. Please upload an application essay below. Please submit a one-page essay that addresses the following prompts:
- How did you learn about our program?
- Please describe your experience at HSMC and why you would like to return.
- What have you been studying in mathematics?
- What other activities are you engaged in doing?

Teacher Recommendation
Every applicant is responsible for notifying their teacher that they need a recommendation. Please give your recommending teacher enough notice to write and send a letter. Mathworks is not responsible for contacting your teacher. We do request that you send in your application before your teacher recommendation is sent to us. If we do receive your recommendation first we will try to the best of our abilities to match up the application with the recommendation letter. However, if you know that your recommendation has been sent before you submit your application please notify us. This will make it faster for us to attach all the documents to your application.
