The Texas State University Retired Faculty and Staff Association (RFSA) is a networking and service group that holds several events each year to enhance the relationship between retirees and the university.

Standing Committees

Participating in committees provides enjoyable social interaction and is a great way to be of service. Would you like to serve on any of the RFSA Committees? Here is a brief description of the duties of each committee.

  • Bobcat Prowl Committee: Plans and organizes the annual 5K run/walk to generate funds for scholarships and to raise additional funds to achieve the purposes and objectives of the Association. Committee members seek out local sponsors to generate the funds for the event as well as actively serve as the race crew.
  • Care Committee: Provides assistance to university retirees and their families in times of need. Includes sending get well or sympathy cards, home or facility visitation, meal assistance, or other needs as requested by the families.
  • Fall Social Committee: Plans and executes the fall event for retirees to get together for food, social time, to announce the new scholarship recipients and to raise additional funds for the Association and next year’s scholarship awards
  • Scholarship Committee: Makes recommendations regarding the number and dollar amount for annual scholarship awards to the Executive Committee for inclusion in the annual budget, advertising for scholarship applicants with assistance from the University Liaison, and keeping the application and MOU in compliance with Texas State requirements. A RFSA Endowed Scholarship was established in Spring 2019.
  • Social Committee: Responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting sponsored events but not limited to -Summer and Holiday Luncheons -Coordinate with RFSA President and TX State when invited to attend University sponsored events -Retiree Fair in the Spring o President’s Retiree Reception –Bobcat Pause (usually the President is invited to read names)
  • Special Events and Trips (SEAT Committee): Responsible for planning and coordinating RFSA social or enrichment events, activities and trips that are offered from time to time to members for their consideration and participation, such as: “Texas State” theater or musical productions Veterans Day Parade – vehicle and riders RFSA sponsored trips to designated destinations – day or overnight RFSA Day/Night” at Bobcat Athletic events.
  • Special Topics Committee: Provides a Speakers’ Forum for the discussion of a variety of topics pertaining to Texas State retirees, including but not limited to the stock market, the economy, and medical costs. It meets approximately three to five times a year.
  • Website, Constitution and By laws Committee: Updates and maintains the Association’s website through the RFSA’s Liaison. This Committee is responsible for reviewing the By Laws and Constitution in September of odd number years.
