    As a tutor in The STUDY, you will be responsible for helping facilitate autonomous learning to SLAC clients. You will assist by helping solve problems, offering support, suggesting strategies, and making referrals when appropriate. This position is great for students who want to deepen their personal content knowledge and help fellow students succeed.

     Job Requirements

    • Earned a minimum of “B” in course(s) you are applying to tutor
    • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
    • Completed at least 24 hours of college coursework
    • Comfortable managing groups of students
    • Strong organization and communication skills

     Job Duties

    • Attend all pre-semester and monthly SLAC trainings
    • Maintain academic honesty and integrity
    • Tutor groups of students
    • Refer students to appropriate resources if necessary

    SI Leaders are tutors who attend course lectures, work with faculty, and facilitate 3-5 structured study sessions (50 mins) each week. This position is great for students looking to strengthen their course content knowledge, tutoring or classroom management experience, network opportunities with faculty, or leadership experience. This position is not Work-Study eligible.

     Job Requirements

    • Earned an ‘A’ or tested out of the course(s) applying for
    • 3.0 TXST cumulative GPA minimum
    • Comfortable with public speaking
    • Strong organization and time management skills

     Job Duties

    • Attend 3 hours of lecture each week
    • Plan and facilitate 3-5 structured study sessions (50 minutes) each week
    • Hold 2 office hours
    • Attend all required pre-semester and monthly trainings

    SLAC Lab Assistants serve as the eyes and ears of the The STUDY. As a Lab Assistant, you will greet and guide clients to the appropriate areas of The STUDY as well as serve as a liaison between the clients and the tutors. Lab Assistants are responsible for managing the flow of The STUDY and maintaining a good learning environment. This position is ideal for students who are personable and enjoy a lively, fast-paced environment.

    As a VASC Guide, you will be responsible for helping serve the military-connected community through tailored programs and initiatives. This position is great for military-connected students who want to serve fellow military-connected students in their transition to campus and in their personal and academic success.

     Job Requirements

    • Minimum overall GPA of 2.6
    • Be a military-connected student on a Federal educational benefit (Veteran, ROTC cadet, Spouse or Family Member on a Federal benefit such as Post 9-11 GI Bill ®, Federal Tuition Assistance, or VA Vocational Rehab)

     Job Duties

    • Assist military-connected students
    • Help students become familiar with Veterans Affairs, university and community benefits and resources via campus tours, informational meetings, etc.

    SLAC Office Assistants provide administrative support to SLAC professional staff. As an Office Assistant, you will assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the SLAC office. You will greet and refer clients seeking information about Supplemental Instruction (SI), Walk-In Tutoring, Private Tutoring, the Veteran Academic Success Center, and Success Coaching to the proper sources. This position is ideal for students who are reliable, personable, and can balance multiple tasks at any given time.
     
    Job Requirements:

    Job Duties:
     

    • Open and/or close the SLAC Office
    • Answer phone calls and emails
    • Greet and refer clients seeking information to the proper sources
    • Knowledge of SLAC learning resources (handouts, website, services, etc.)
    • Assist Administrative Assistant III with the following: 
      • Receive packages, maintain inventory, and re-stock supplies
      • Maintain an organized and clean office
    • Attend 4 mandatory trainings
    • Maintain a positive work environment

  • The SLAC Student Accountant position is a wonderful opportunity for Texas State Bobcats to gain accounting experience during their studies. The position offers flexible hours, applicable experience, and stands out on a resume for post-graduate opportunities.

    Job Purpose

    • Track expenses, payroll, and budgeting for SLAC
    • Facilitate budget meeting discussions with management over allocations, expenditures to date, and internal control discrepancies.
    • Develop controls to ensure the matching of budget allocations against actual expenditures and revenues
    • Coordinate with management over monetary discrepancies

    Job Duties

    • Construct and present to management monthly financial statements demonstrating the financial position of SLAC
    • Create ad hoc reports on various topics with diligence and attention to detail
    • Discover issues through payroll reconciliation and use judgment to resolve independently or escalate
    • Provide clarity to and communicate complex transactions to management
    • Perform daily operation of SAP and Microsoft Excel software to maintain a set of accounting books for SLAC under minimal supervision 
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements

    • Basic knowledge of measuring cash inflows and outflows
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel software including lookup functions, conditional formatting, and data validation
    • Basic knowledge of payroll transactions
    • Sophomore academic standing (31-60 course hours completed)
    • 3.0 or better Overall GPA
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to explain accounting procedures clearly
    • Ability to work 10-12 hours per week 

    Preferred

    • Completion of ACC 2361, ACC 2362 and ISAN 1323
    • Proficiency in mathematics and logic
    • Previous work experience in bookkeeping
    • Experience presenting to small groups
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel software including modeling, PivotTables, complex formulas, and financial analysis
    • Intention of completing the Master of Accountancy program offered by TXST
