BOSS (Bobcat Online Scholarship)

Our Department Scholarships are now "live" on the BOSS. You will fill out an initial "conditional application" and be directed to various scholarships that you may eligible for. You will need to request letters of recommendation and create a resume. The Writing Center and Career Services can help.

Department of Engineering Technology Scholarships

K-W Construction Scholars

This endowed scholarship was established by Mr. James Kelley, president of K-W Construction, Inc. of San Marcos, and his wife, Jane, to financially assist students interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry. The scholarship yields about $1,000 per year. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements: BS in Construction Science and Management or ET Construction Engineering Technology major; completed 60 semester hours toward their degree; completed 12 semester hours in CSM and/or TECH prefixed courses; completed a degree audit; major GPA of 2.75; overall GPA of 2.50; CSM Student Chapter member preferred.

John Keating Maher Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in 1984 by Dorothy Maher and Pure Castings, Inc. of Austin, in memory of Mr. John Keating Maher, founder of the company. This scholarship is for students interested in a career in manufacturing and yields about $1,200 per year. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements: Industrial, Technology Management or Engineering Technology with a manufacturing major/specialization; completed 60 semester hours toward their degree; completed a degree audit; major GPA of 3.0; overall GPA of 2.5; recommended to be a paid SME member; must have a financial need.

Texas Chapter of the American Foundry Society Scholarship

This Presidential Endowed scholarship was established to financially assist outstanding technology students interested in a career in the metal casting industry. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements:overall GPA of 2.50 or above, major GPA of 3.0, must be an Engineering Technology or Engineering student, completed 30 hours toward a Technology or Engineering degree, completed a degree audit.

Joe E. Walker Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Joe E. Walker, a long-time faculty member in the Department of Engineering Technology. This scholarship is intended to financially support any junior or senior departmental majors including CIM, CSM, IT, ET or Technology Management student and yields about $2,000 per year. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements: Must be a departmental major; completed 45 hours toward their degree; completed a degree outline; major GPA of 3.0; overall GPA of 2.5.

Joe E. Walker Scholarship

The Joseph E. Winek Scholarship is awarded to Freshmen or Sophomores (less than 60 hours counting towards degree) who are Construction Science and Management majors. The scholarship is granted annually to entering freshmen or freshmen transfer (less than 30 hours). This scholarship is given to scholastically talented students interested in construction with financial need as a secondary consideration. Basic requirements are: 3.0 GPA, a Construction Science and Management major, and completed Degree Audit. This scholarship yields about $2000 annually and is renewable for up to four years.

 

San Marcos Manufacturing Association Scholarship

The purpose of the SMMA Scholarship is to financially assist academically deserving students with an interest in manufacturing. The Scholarship is a $750 award presented to a qualifying Texas State University Engineering Technology student when funds are available. This scholarship was established by the local manufacturing association to financially assist students majoring in manufacturing/mechanical ET. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following requirements:

  • Overall GPA of 2.50 or above
  • Major GPA of 2.80 or above
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology degree with a manufacturing/ mechancal emphasis
  • Completed 60 hours
  • Currently enrolled for 12 semester hours or more and be in good academic standing.

Foundry Educational Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Foundry Educational Foundation to financially assist any major interested in pursuing a career in the metal casting industry. The scholarship yields four $1,000 scholarships per year. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements: Take one metal casting class; be interested in the metal casting industry; meet criteria established by a faculty selection committee.

William L. Deck Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in 1989 by Dr. William L. Deck and his wife, Rena. Dr. Deck was a long-time faculty member in the Department of Engineering Technology. This scholarship is intended for outstanding junior or senior departmental majors and yields about $1,000 per year. Students interested in this scholarship must meet the following minimum requirements: must be a departmental major; completed 60 semester hours toward their degree; completed a degree audit; major GPA of 3.0; overall GPA of 2.5.

Boom & Bucket's 2024 Student Scholarship Program

Boom & Bucket is offering a scholarship of $1,000 to be awarded each year to a student pursuing a heavy machinery-themed program. This scholarship is available to both currently enrolled students and future students who are planning to attend a program within the next 12 months. The program can be at a college or a trade school anywhere in the United States or Canada.
