Veterans Alliance of Texas State
The role of Veterans Alliance of Texas State (VATS), a chartered student organization, is to provide academic and social support to every student veteran and do what we can to see all student veterans fulfill their scholastic goals.
Qualifications
- Military service
- Good academic standing (2.5 or above GPA)
- Ability to work with others
- Good interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
- Insight about transition challenges
- Can engage with and motivate people from diverse backgrounds
- Successfully completed at least one semester at Texas State University
Roles & Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in VATS Executive & General Members
- Provide informal support to student veterans to increase awareness of the resources available
- Refer student veterans to appropriate resources, offices/units, and/or services
- Dedicate weekly office hours in the VATS Lounge
- Attend programs and events sponsored by VATS including but not limited to (listed below):
UPDATED: Nomination, Voting, and Election Timeline and Dates
- June 17 - Nominations Form Opens
- June 20 - Nomination Form Closes
- June 21 - Nominees informed via email
- June 24 - Nominees formally accept or decline
- June 27 - Online Voting Opens
- July 2 - Online Voting Ends
- July 3 - Announcement of Newly Elected VATS Executive Board

- VATS Executive Officer Board Retreat (prior to start of fall semester)
- VATS Mini Golf Tournament (fall)

Available Positions

President
- Maintain organizational orientation in alignment with VATS mission statement
- Coordinates executive board officer transitions.
- Organizes executive board retreats.
- Presides over and facilitates meetings of the organization.
- Represents the organization to the university and other outside entities.
- Serves as a secondary signatory on financial accounts.
- Work closely with VATS advisor.

Vice President
- Assist president in leading of the organization and assumes the duties of the President in their absence.
- Represents the organization at official functions.
- Support coordination and execution of organization meetings, programs, and initiatives.
- Performs other duties as directed by the President.
- Serve as organization leader in absence of President.

Treasurer
- Serves as the primary signatory on financial accounts
- Manage the VATS account and make sure that the organization is in good financial standing as well maintaining compliance with 501(c)3 laws and regulations.
- Prepares all purchase orders for organization activity.
- Serves as the primary signatory on financial accounts
- Maintains an inventory of all equipment and its condition.
- Performs other duties as directed by the President.

Chief of Staff
- Track delegated duties and responsibilities of fellow board members
- Assist in event planning and fundraising
- Performs other duties as directed by the President.
- Collects reports from committee heads on ongoing projects to report to president

Secretary
- Maintain organizational records
- Take minutes and attendance at board meetings
- Prepare after-action reports of official (funded) VATS functions for continuity

Director of Communications
- Act as Public Affairs Officer of the board
- Advertise any events or collaborations that are being had on social media platforms.
- Manage social media and web sites.
- Take Photographs at VATS events to utilize on social media platforms.

Outreach Coordinator
- Engage and build relationships with university and student organizations and services
- Maintain relationships with current sponsors and donators
- Prospect potential donators and collaborate with other veteran service organizations
