This checklist is for advising purposes for BGS students only.
Consult your undergraduate catalog or official degree audit for degree requirements.
- Twelve advanced hours in the minor coursework are required for the BGS.
- A 2.25 cumulative GPA must be maintained in all minor courses.
- No grade lower than a “C” will be accepted as credit for BGS minors.
- Course rotation indications are intended to be used for planning purposes and do not guarantee course availability. "F" indicates "fall," "S" indicates "spring," and "Su" indicates "summer" availability.
- "Advanced" = Junior/Senior-level (3000-4000) coursework (Prerequisites may be required)
- _____ BIO 1330/1130 - Functional Biology (F, S) (or both BIO 1330 _____ & BIO 1130 _____)
- _____ BIO 1331/1131 - Organismal Biology (F, S) (or both BIO 1331 _____ & BIO 1131 _____)
- _____CHEM 1341 - General Chemistry I (F, S, SU) (Concurrent registration in CHEM 1141 is recommended. Prerequisite: MATH 1315 or MATH 1317 or MATH 1319 or MATH 1329 or MATH 2321 or MATH 2417 any with a grade of "C" or higher, ACT Mathematics score of 24 or more, SAT Mathematics score of 550 or more, Accuplacer College Mathematics score of 86 or more, or Compass College Algebra score of 46 or More, AAF score of 263 or more.)
- _____ CHEM 1141 - General Chemistry Laboratory I (Prerequisite or Co-requisite: CHEM 1341, CHEM 1335, or CHEM 1310)
- _____ CHEM 1342 - General Chemistry II (F, S, SU) (Concurrent enrollment in CHEM 1142 is recommended. Prerequisite: CHEM 1341 with a grade of “C” or higher)
- _____ CHEM 1142 - General Chemistry Laboratory II (Prerequisites: CHEM 1341 and CHEM 1141 with a grade of "D" or better. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: CHEM 1342)
- _____ BIO 24501 – Genetics (F, S, SU) (Prerequisites: BIO 1330, BIO 1130, BIO 1331 and BIO 1131; CHEM 1141, CHEM 1341, CHEM 1142, and CHEM 1342 all with grades of “C” or higher)

Note: Advanced coursework cannot include:
- BIO 3351 - Forensic & Human Genetics
- BIO 4299 - Undergraduate Research (note: The biology department may approve a BIO minor to take two semesters of BIO 4299 to satisfy 1 advanced elective requirement, but it must be approved by the department chair first.)

- BIO 4402 - Earth Science I
- BIO 4403 - Earth Science II
- BIO 4408 - Science Processes & Research
