The Bachelor of General Studies, major in Integrated Studies provides students with the most flexibility in creating your individualized degree plan based on a unique career goal.
This degree is offered as a traditional face-to-face program and as an accelerated online program.
In addition to your minor(s) selection and carefully chosen electives, the degree is framed by two senior capstone courses.
INTS 4360-Integrated Career Preparation (Capstone Course Part 1)
This course is the first part of a two-course capstone sequence, leading to the creation of part one of a digital portfolio. Students will engage in self-analysis, identify transferable skills, and conduct occupational and industry research. By the end of the course, students will identify an occupational path and complete the first part of a two-part career portfolio. This portfolio will synthesize their knowledge, skills, and abilities, showcasing NACE competencies and demonstrating career development activities that reflect continuous learning and skill development, essential for post-graduation employment.
INTS 4360 Course Objectives:
- INTS students will identify personal strengths, interests, and NACE competencies to describe the link between these qualities and occupational potentials.
- INTS students will conduct scholarly and academic career research for the goals of continuous learning/skill development and post-graduation employment.
- INTS students will create employment content that demonstrates professional-quality writing clarity, formatting, spelling, grammar, and writing mechanics.
- INTS students will use technology skills to develop professional-quality digital career artifacts.
INTS 4361-Integrated Career Portfolio (Capstone Course Part 2)
This course is the second in a two-part capstone sequence, completing a comprehensive digital career portfolio initiated in INTS 4360. Students will learn additional strategies to attain post-graduation employment, including researching job postings, creating a polished resume with a cover letter, updating their professional online profile, and honing their interview skills. A formal student presentation summarizes the work from both capstone courses leading to a Bachelor of General Studies degree.
INTS 4361 Course Objectives:
- INTS students will analyze personal skills, abilities, and competencies for the purpose of developing the career portfolio.
- INTS students will examine the impact of global perspectives and opportunities in today’s workforce as they connect to the career potential.
- INTS students will link workforce preparation skills with the BGS curriculum to create a comprehensive career portfolio, including a resume, cover letter, and practice AI interview skills.
- INTS students will demonstrate writing clarity, academic/professional appropriateness, formatting, spelling, grammar, and writing mechanics.
