BGS Degree Requirements

Major in Integrated Studies

  • Choose 1, 2, or 3 Texas State minors (100+ to choose from)
  • 2 Integrated Studies (INTS) courses 
  • Other core and degree requirements as stipulated by Texas State
  • Complete 12 advanced hours in each minor (no substitutions)
  • 2.25 GPA for each minor (all minor courses and GNST courses require a "D" or higher)
  • Minimum of 120 degree hours

Integrated Studies Core Courses

INTS 4360-Integrated Career Preparation (Capstone Course Part 1)

This course is the first part of a two-course capstone sequence, leading to the creation of part one of a digital portfolio. Students will engage in self-analysis, identify transferable skills, and conduct occupational and industry research. By the end of the course, students will identify an occupational path and complete the first part of a two-part career portfolio. This portfolio will synthesize their knowledge, skills, and abilities, showcasing NACE competencies and demonstrating career development activities that reflect continuous learning and skill development, essential for post-graduation employment.

Prerequisite: Declaration of the BGS major, Texas State GPA 2.0 or better, and department permission.

 

INTS 4361-Integrated Career Portfolio (Capstone Course Part 2)

This course is the second in a two-part capstone sequence, completing a comprehensive digital career portfolio initiated in INTS 4360. Students will learn additional strategies to attain post-graduation employment, including researching job postings, creating a polished resume with a cover letter, updating their professional online profile, and honing their interview skills. A formal student presentation summarizes the work from both capstone courses leading to a Bachelor of General Studies degree.

Prerequisite: Declaration of the BGS major, Completion of INTS 4360 with a ā€œDā€ or higher, Texas State GPA 2.0 or better.
