Fund Your Education

The Concrete Industry Management program, through the help of our National Steering Committee and our Patron's Board Foundation, provides in excess of $100,000 in scholarships to TXST CIM students annually.  Whether you are an incoming first-year student, transfer student, change of major student or a continuing CIM major...there are scholarship dollars set aside for you.

Not only that...there are over $250,000 in scholarships available annually to CIM students nationally.  Over 70% of our CIM students at Texas State have received a local or national scholarship, and many of our students have accumulated scholarship monies to fully fund their undergraduate education.

Current Scholarship Opportunities

New Incoming First-Year/Transfer Student ISSF Scholarship

The National Steering Committee (NSC) for Concrete Industry Management (CIM) provides funds annually for the recruitment of new students to the CIM Program at Texas State University.  These Industry Support Scholarship Fund (ISSF) awards are available to any incoming first-year, transfer student, or change of major student from within the University.

CIM Patron's Foundation Scholarship

The Texas State University Patron’s Foundation provides funds annually for the advancement of students currently majoring in the CIM Program at Texas State University.  These scholarship funds are available to any current CIM student in good standing.

  • Multiple awards up to $2,000 are available for current CIM students
  • Applications are available in the fall semester annually, and awards are made at the spring Patrons Scholarship Gala each April
  • Applications and deadlines will be provided to all current TXST CIM students

Ingram First-Year CIM Scholarship

The Ingram Concrete Industry Management Scholarship, valued at $8,000 ($2,000 per academic year) from Texas State University is awarded to incoming first-year student each year with outstanding academic credentials who declares a major in concrete industry management.

  • The acceptance deadline for this award is in May annually.
  • Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated financial need. To compete for this scholarship, a student must major in the qualifying major and meet the following criteria:
    • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
      *Top 15 % of graduating class
      *Minimum SAT/ACT score of 1260/27 with a minimum math sub score of 610/26

Ingram CIM Scholarship

The Ingram Concrete Industry Management Scholarship – Continuing is awarded to continuing students each year with outstanding academic credentials who declare a major in concrete industry management. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated financial need. These one-time award amounts vary based on availability of funds.

To compete for this scholarship, a student must major in the qualifying major and meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Major in a qualifying major
  • Maintain a 3.0 Texas State GPA

American Concrete Institute (ACI) San Antonio Chapter

Every year, the San Antonio ACI Chapter does its best to provide funding to students at Texas State.  The student that receives the scholarship will receive a minimum of $2,000 but depending on the amount of scholarship money available from the chapter, this amount may increase.

American Concrete Institute (ACI) Central Texas Chapter - Rodney Daives and Gerald Lankes Memorial Scholarship

The Rodney Daives and Gerald Lankes Memorial Scholarships were established by the Central Texas Chapter of the American Concrete Institute to preserve the legacy and contributions made by both Rodney Daives and Gerald David Lankes to the concrete community of Texas and the local chapter.  Each year, the Central Texas Chapter of the American Concrete Institute awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students in Central Texas who are pursuing a concrete related degree.

American Society of Concrete Contractors

The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) Education, Research and Development Foundation, St. Louis, MO awards two scholarships to students in Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Programs.  To qualify for this scholarship, a student must be enrolled full-time in the CIM program and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.  The ASCC Foundation was created in 1989 to fund education and research that advances the quality and productivity of concrete construction

  • Two awards of $3,000 - $5,000
  • Applications due in May of each year

International Concrete Repair Institute North Texas Chapter Scholarship

The ICRI North Texas Chapter offers a scholarship to encourage participation in the concrete and/or concrete repair industries.  Scholarship funding is provided by the ICRI NTX.

  • At least $1,000 for tuition, fees and books (more than one scholarship may be awarded)
  • Applications due in April of each year
  • Applications and deadlines will be provided to all current TXST CIM students

National Precast Association Foundation Scholarship

For more than three decades, the NPCA Foundation has provided scholarships to students enrolled in civil engineering, architecture, and construction related curricula.  Applications are open to anyone who will be enrolled in a certificate program or an undergraduate program at an academic institution for the next academic year following the application deadline.  The applicant's course of study should be in an academic field related to the building, construction or precast concrete industry.

  • Students are eligible to receive $2,500 their first year
  • Renewable awards of $3,000, $4,000 and $5,000 annually are available for students who complete internships with NPCA.  See application for details.
  • Applications are due in March of each year
  • Applications and deadlines will be provided to all current TXST CIM students

American Coal Ash Association Foundation Scholarship

The ACAAEF awards scholarships to graduate and undergraduate students with demonstrated interest in the management and beneficial use of coal combustion products (CCP).  Students must be attending a university or college in the United States at the time of application.  Applicants are evaluated on their course work, grade point average, personal recommendations and an essay describing their interest in CCP related issues.  The awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.  The ACAAEF Board of Directors will make awards based on the quality of the applications received.  Past recipients represented a wide variety of fields of study ranging from civil engineering to material science to environmental engineering to public policy.

Construction Leadership Council Austin Chapter Scholarship

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is dedicated to cultivating the future generations of leaders in the construction industry.  This is done through community services, networking, continuing education, professionalism and leadership.  The CLC would like to offer financial assistance to students who have demonstrated these characteristics and shown an interest in the construction industry.

  • Single award of $2,000

TEXO Foundation Scholarship

Applications are for students interested in working in the construction industry in North Texas with at least one semester remaining in their program of study (including graduate students).  Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships on an annual basis.  After receiving the applications, the TEXO Foundation reviews the applications and determines which students will receive an opportunity to interview for a scholarship.  Many factors weigh into the decision of awarding scholarships, and the Foundation takes time to visit with the candidates in a panel-style interview (virtually).

Melville J. Gilbreth Memorial Fund Endowment

Awards for the Melville J. Gilbreth Scholarship will be given according to the following guidelines and qualification requirements.  The awards will be given from interest earned by the fund.  Recipients will be selected among the qualified applicants by the department Scholarship Committee.

  • Award amounts vary
  • Have earned a minimum of 60 semester credit hours
  • Have a minimum 3.25 GPA within their major courses
  • Major in the Department of Engineering Technology in either Construction Science and Management or Concrete Industry Management
  • Enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester)

William L. Deck Endowment

The William L. Deck Scholarship is awarded to outstanding juniors or seniors and is available to all Department of Engineering Technology majors including Concrete Industry Management, Construction Science and Management, Engineering Technology or Technology Management.  The scholarship is awarded primarily for scholarly activity with services and financial needs being secondary.  This endowed scholarship was established in 1989 by Dr. William L. Deck, a long-time faculty member in the Department of Engineering Technology and his wife Rena.

  • Award amounts vary
  • Texas State GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Have a minimum 3.25 GPA within their major courses
  • Major in the Department of Engineering Technology 
  • Must have 45 credit hours towards degree
  • Transfer students must have 15 Texas State credit hours

The AOE Fellowship

AOE - a fully-owned subsidiary of ACI - launched a fellowship specifically for members of the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Program.  AOE is a long-time supporter of CIM, having helped with the program's marketing efforts for more than a decade.  The AOE award is available to undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree as part of the CIM program.  First preference will be given to students interested in the sales/marketing, association management, or business side of the concrete industry.  An internship with AOE is optional.  The fellowship was created in memory of Wendy Ward, a member of the AOE team for more than 10 years.  Wendy was a great advocate for the concrete industry and passed away at the early age of 32 from breast cancer.  She was known throughout the industry as a leading expert in helping organizations with their marketing and sales efforts, as well as broadening career opportunities in the concrete industry.

  • $10,000 - $15,000 educational stipend for tuition, residence, books and materials
  • Appropriate recognition in Concrete International magazine and on the Foundation website
  • Paid travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI Conventions (fellowship finalists must attend the Spring ACI Convention to be interviewed when they have the option of being assigned a Convention Guide)
  • Assistance in finding an industry mentor
  • Application is due in November each year
  • Applications and deadlines will be provided to all current TXST CIM students

CarbonCure Sustainability in Concrete Scholarship

CarbonCure is on a mission to make concrete a climate solution and annually reduce and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 500 million metric tons by 2030.  As a part of that mission, we are looking to support the next generation of leaders in sustainability within the concrete industry and are excited to launch the CarbonCure Sustainability in Concrete Scholarship in partnership with our producer partners from around the world.  The CarbonCure Sustainability in Concrete Scholarship is offered to any undergraduate freshman, sophomore, or transfer student enrolled full time in a CIM academic institution and who has demonstrated interested in promoting sustainability within the concrete industry.

  • Single award of $2,000

Kim Family Endowed Scholarship

The Kim Family Endowed Scholarship scholarship is funded by the Kim Family to provide funding and support to CIM students who aspire to further their education and future in the concrete industry in memory of Mr. Kim Dongjun.  Distributions from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to Texas State students enrolled in Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program within the Department of Engineering Technology using the below criteria. 

  • Recipient will be full-time student (12 hours); 
  • Completed 9 hours of CIM major credits; 
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA; and, 
  • Be a member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Student Chapter.

American Concrete Institute (ACI) Foundation Scholarships and Fellowships

The ACI Foundation awards more than $200,000 annually to students to both further their studies, and which provides professional exposure to the concrete industry and ACI by funding their travel to a number of ACI Concrete Conventions. Promoted globally through ACI’s network of faculty members, these awards are given to the brightest and best students studying concrete.

American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) Besser Scholarship

The Besser Scholarship is a $3,500 college scholarship that is awarded to a student whose course of study is related to concrete pipe production, application/installation or research. Any and all students who attend (or plan to attend) a technical program, community college, or university (undergraduate or graduate program) are encouraged to apply. The Besser Scholarship program is intended to help attract and/or retain students who will make a positive impact on the concrete pipe industry.

NSSGA Barry K. Wendt Memorial Scholarship

The National Stone Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) Barry K. Wendt Memorial Scholarship is presented annually to a student who plans to pursue a career in the aggregates industry.  This $5,000 scholarship was created to honor the memory of the late Barry K. Wendt, an NSSGA member who tirelessly devoted his energy to advancing the causes of the aggregates industry.

Eligible students will be enrolled in a mining-related degree program and will have completed at least one year of college coursework.

NCMA Education & Research Foundation Scholarship

Two $5,000 scholarships are awarded by the NCMA Education and Research Foundation for each academic year. These scholarships are awarded to deserving students in certain academic programs with an interest in the concrete masonry and hardscape industry.

Scholarship applications are reviewed by the NCMA Education and Research Foundation annually. The scholarship application deadline is June 1 of each year. Find out more information about each program using the links below.

ASTM International - Katharine and Bryant Mather Scholarship

This scholarship is presented each year, contingent upon available funds, to full time undergraduate students completing their second/sophomore year of college, or later, or graduate students who are pursuing degrees specializing in cement or concrete materials technology, or concrete construction. Each recipient of the Katharine and Bryant Mather Scholarship shall receive up to $7,500 to be used for their educational expenses and up to $1,500 to cover expenses to attend a Committee C09 meeting. International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Scholarship

The ICRI has established a scholarship program to assist qualified applicants who plan to pursue a post-secondary education in undergraduate college, university and vocational programs, directly related to a curriculum of study in concrete, concrete repair, architectural and engineering studies (structural and civil).  Up to $5,000 will be awarded each year, at the discretion of ICRI, depending on the number of qualified applicants.
