Dionne L. Davis, Ph.D.

Dionne L. Davis, Ph. D is an Assistant Professor in the Education and Community Leadership, School Improvement Program at Texas State University. She is a native of eastern North Carolina, a former elementary teacher and assistant principal. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of South Florida at Tampa in 2022 and earned her B.A. (2001) and M.S.A. (2008) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research interests include: 1) Diversity, equity, and inclusion in PK-12 educational settings for students of color and Black women, 2) The impact of race and ethnicity on language education policy, and 3) Antiracist, decolonized preparation of future K-12 educational leaders. Through her research and teaching, Dr. Davis is committed to preparing future educational leaders who are antiracist, culturally responsive, thoughtful, caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable of decolonized, indigenous leadership practices.
