Reaction time…

What's that old maxim? “It's hard to prove the Loch Ness Monster exists; it's impossible to prove it doesn't”. 

"Yarr, ‘twas fallen into late afternoon on an overcast day when I first espied the aberration. There she be, off'n me starboard side; a slight ripple in the flat green water..."  

Interestingly, it took a moment to register that what I was looking at was actually something out of the ordinary. Then it took another few moments to even think to take my camera out of my pocket and snap a photo. Meanwhile, the creature continued moving away from me at a high rate of speed. It was by plain luck that I was able to take my camera out of my shorts pocket (just) in time to point and shoot in the general direction of the movement and actually capture the creature in the photos below. The second photo is an enlargement of the ripple area of the first photo.

For the record, I've also seen 5"-8" bullfrogs but have never gotten the chance to capture them on film
